They experimented with it for the 2008 Super Bowl but that was relatively short-lived.
But now Hulu has introduced a devoted Trailers section to their site that contains spots for a number of new/upcoming release movies.
Quality is about what it is for TV programs that are hosted on the site, meaning it’s not as grainy as YouTube but not as high-quality as on a site like Apple. And right now there just seems to be one trailer for each film. So the trailer I embedded by for Zack and Miri Make a Porno in last week’s column was the only one for that film that was available.
The section is being sponsored by Sprint and I hope that, even if there isn’t a future sponsor, they continue to support this, as it’s an interesting alternative to sites like MySpace Video and the other existing players.
I’ve become a huge fan of Hulu over their first year of existence after being pretty skeptical before it launched. I now watch the majority of my television programming on the site and am a big fan as it’s increased functionality like subscribing to shows and everything.
