Scott Kirsner writes a book I probably should be reading
Scott Kirsner, Variety writer, publisher of CinemaTech and one of the organizers behind The Conversation conference (which I’m planning on attending) has added book author to his resume. Scott has written Inventing the Movies: Hollywood’s Epic Battle Between Innovation and the Status Quo from Thomas Edison to Steve Jobs and you can buy that on Amazon now.
If you remain unconvinced as to whether it’s worth your money you can read an excerpt from the book now. Scott has the link and, based on this (as well as the fact that I admire Scott greatly and think he’s one of the few guys who’s really pushing the thinking in the press on the distribution issue) it’s a must-read for me.

Scott seems like an innovative fellow, interesting ideas.
Here’s a podcast where they talk about his book that might help tempt people into reading (and buying) his book.
