New The Happening trailer
This new trailer for The Happening, the latest movie from writer/director M. Night Shyamalan, definitely turns up the “creepy presence” factor for the movie, where other trailers have played up the “mysterious force” aspect more.
The new footage doesn’t really kick in until the last third of the spot. Prior to that we’re treated to more or less rearranged bits that we’ve already seen. The transition comes when you start hearing the explanation of “the event” and the impact it’s having on the populace.
Other than that the predominant selling point for the movie continues to be the stars looking aghast at what’s happening around them. I’m not sure that will work in the long run, but Tom, who saw this trailer before Iron Man last night, is guessing this could bring Shymalan back to Village-like success.
