The Objective trailer and website

Kimberly at PRWeek’s The Cycle pointed out a number of things for The Objective, the latest film from Daniel Myrick, the director of The Blair Witch Project. I’ll bypass Kimberly’s questions about whether or not there will be a “viral” campaign for the movie a la BWP and just deal with the marketing materials themselves.

The website looks pretty cool, with a good layout and some nice behind-the-scenes video that keeps the viewer’s interest a bit. There’s also a cool WordPress-based blog that the filmmakers are passing along news on the movie with. There are some problems I can see, such as the lack of a page title, but overall it’s a good effort.

The trailer certainly does not relay the movie’s low-budget origins. It conveys the story - a group of soldiers in Afghanistan in 2001 go hunting for terrorists and find something else - very well and does enough to make it not just another war movie to be attractive to at least some audiences.
