New The Wackness trailer
Sony Classics has released a new trailer for The Wackness, the much beloved film from Sundance starring Sir Ben Kingsley as a psychiatrist who trades treatment for drugs, drugs he gets from a young man who falls in love with Kingsley’s character’s daughter.
This trailer is a vast improvement over the first one. Where the previous installment presented the movie as a variation on a romantic comedy and almost completely excised Kingsley’s role, this one goes in the exact opposite direction and forfeits almost everything but the interactions between Kingsley and his young patient.
Some of those who were worried about how Sony Classics would handle the marketing of the movie are saying this trailer is proof of their skepticism, but I disagree. I like it a lot, where I didn’t care for the first one at all.
