More magazine coverage love for the summer’s releases
First we have this USA Weekend round-table discussion with the women who break up the sausage fests that are this summer’s action movies, specifically this summer’s comic-adaptation action movies. Liv Tyler (Incredible Hulk), Gwenyth Paltrow (Iron Man) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) all get slow-pitch softball questions like what super power they wish they had and if they enjoyed working on movies with so much testosterone flying around. Though to be fair Paltrow gets bonus points for passing on a crack from Robert Downey Jr. about being in a movie people are going to actually see for a change.
Next up Get Smart’s Steve Carell gets to expound on how to make yourself look intelligent in Wired. While it’s all just a bit of fun, the piece is part of a larger package in the latest issue that’s umbrellaed as “Get Smarter” so the movie tie-in is pretty obvious.
Finally, Entertainment Weekly has what’s actually a pretty cool story on recommended trade paperbacks to check out as you gear up for this summer’s comic-based movies. Iron Man, Speed Racer and The Dark Knight are among the movies with titles the magazine says you should bone up on before seeing.
