College trailer

I’m going to lose a lot of my Cool, Serious Film Guy points for saying this, but the trailer for College isn’t half bad. In fact it actually is pretty funny.

I know, I know. This isn’t the kind of movie I – or anyone else – should be liking. But the trailer works for what it is, which is a movie about a bunch of high school dorks who have a single great weekend while visiting a college. “Great” of course is defined as involving a lot of irresponsible drinking and trying to hook up with the cute girls on campus, all while being verbally abused by the fraternity jerks they’re staying with.

The trailer sets up the movie pretty well, starting with the main motivation for this group to embark on such an adventure and then following them on that trip. Most of the main characters we’re going to meet in the movie are, it seems, introduced and there’s a nice pace to the spot. I’m guessing it’s not going to surpass something like Superbad for cleverness but it does look more than a little entertaining, which is more than I expected after seeing the completely uninspired poster.
