New Rogue poster

New Rogue poster

This new poster pretty much tells you everything you need to know about Rogue. It features as its antagonist a giant honking alligator and that the humans who populate the cast are completely inconsequential since not one of them is mentioned outside the credit block, much less above or even below the title.

Instead it’s all about that alligator, which is no doubt mean as hell and twice as big, as well as evolved to the point that it can single out certain individuals in much the same way a certain great white shark always could. A certain great white whose movie poster was referenced in the first one sheet for this flick.

I guess it works alright from a cheesy monster movie perspective, but showing the beast kind of takes away from the mystery of what’s out there. Plus, is it my imagination or is the water splash at the bottom going the wrong way?

Looks like a rip off of the original Jaws poster. Except that, like you said, they don’t show any humans. The result is a complete lack of suspense.

Well the movie is getting a bare limited release in America so I think this poster is being used to get the hardcore horror fans in who are expected “Wolf Creek 2″, but with a crocodile who would see it whether it was in limited release or wide release. Really the movie is nothing of the sort and the first Australian poster was a better representation.

This poster annoys me though because the croc in it doesn’t even look like the croc in the movie somehow. Maybe I’m forgetting, but I don’t think it looked like that.
