Mysterious clowns come out against Harvey Dent and more on the Joker bowling balls
So the mystery that was the Clown Travel Agency, the latest interactive element of The Dark Knight’s marketing campaign, continues to unravel.
Select people who went to the locations listed on the CTA website were given a bag with a bowling ball, cell phone and Joker card with a number to dial in it. Those who called the number were told “We know who you are” but then received a call back from Commissioner James Gordon, saying they were now being recruited into the Gotham PD. If they refused they would be treated as criminal conspirators.
At the same time, the CTA website was down and was being redirected to that of Acme Security Services (I have to believe this is an in-house nod by Warner) where they were also told, after filling out their information, they were being tracked online as well.
Elisabeth at Cinematical, who has a good round-up of the developments, also points out that April 4th and not April 1st appear next to some of the travel stamps on the now-defunct CTA website. That could potentially be when a new trailer is released.
Also on the Dark Knight front is the appearance of some mysterious and threatening videos on YouTube from a group calling itself Clowns Against Dent. You really need to watch these as they’re really good, with masked men talking about how awful Harvey Dent is.
The campaign gets more and more interesting.
