Nancy Drew gets bonus material on VOD

When Nancy Drew hits video-on-demand viewers will be enticed by a separate version of the movie that includes enhanced features, reports Variety.

The “Drew’s Clues” (O RLY?!?) version of the movie will be made available through VOD the same date as the movie is released on DVD. It will offer pop-up alerts on things that need to be paid attention to as the movie goes on and the girl detective tries to solve the mystery.

The idea of adding bonus material that is woven into the movie experience is a great one, especially for things like VOD. Having a feature like this on DVD may not be all that attractive since it’s not something that is likely to be viewed repeatedly, limiting its actual value to the buyer. But on VOD, which is more akin to rentals, that can add significant allure to a movie that has been seen, offering more of a hook for buyers.
