New Get Smart trailer

getsmartpic1.jpgWarner Bros. has released a new trailer for Get Smart that, based on the reaction I’ve seen around the Internet since it hit, has managed to turn around public perception of the movie’s fortunes.

Now I’ve always thought that the movie looked pretty funny  so to me this trailer is just an extension of that. But others have felt differently.

Anyway, the new trailer goes a bit deeper into the movie’s plot, sacrificing some of the sight gags that were in previous entries for more hints as to what Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 (played by Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway, respectively) are going to be getting themselves into. Included are plenty of callbacks to the original series, including the Cone of Silence and other such things that are going to be appealing to those familiar with the source material.
