Take this new Indy 4 poster with a grain of salt

indyskullpic5.jpgI keep seeing this supposed new poster for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull pop up in my RSS feeds and every time I look at it it seems more and more fake. That’s for a variety of reasons:

  • It doesn’t fill any needs. It’s not a very engaging teaser poster and it’s certainly not up to the levels you’d expect for a theatrical one-sheet. Anyone who thinks this is a final poster is on crack.
  • It looks like a combination of elements from other materials. Shia LaBouf’s image seems pulled (or at least inspired by) the comic adaptation cover, and Ford looks like someone just designed him in that same style. Plus, the title treatment looks slapped on there.
  • Any posters are going to be created by Drew Struzan. And this ain’t his work.

I’m not sure where this was seen or found or whatever, but I’d be really surprised if this isn’t a fan effort that’s now getting passed around by bloggers looking to make sure they don’t get lost in the search shuffle.

If it is real the Paramount needs to sack the person responsible for approving it. It’s crap.
