After Dark teams with Massify for fan-voting movie making

ghostsinthemachinecontest.JPGInteresting idea being tested out by After Dark Films. The studio is teaming with online production firm Massify to run a competition asking people to submit their ideas on a full-length feature film to make. Then as ideas are submitted they’ll be able to vote on them, as well as other key decisions throughout the production process.

The idea extends to the marketing of the resulting film as well, with publicity and marketing ideas being made public for people to weigh in on.

The whole thing is being run as a contest, with the winner getting a trip to the set and a producer’s credit on the final movie.

Truly crowdsourcing a movie I don’t think is something that’s really been done before so it will be interesting to see how this turns out. The idea got a lot of talk (but very little actual meat on the bone) during flicks like Snakes on a Plane but this is the first time to my recollection it’s being tried from top to bottom.
