Shutter poster
Eschewing the movie’s actors almost entirely, this poster for the Thailand horror flick remake Shutter instead relies solely up creating a scary photo mosaic. There are a few pics of Joshua Jackson and others from the film mixed in there but you kind of have to look for them to find them.
The lack of originality in the one-sheets for these Asian horror remakes is really starting to show. There are only so many times you can show creepy kid/apparition or whatever and have it make any impact on the audience. If you passed by this in the theater you’d probably think it was for another Ring movie or something.
But the inclusion of “from the executive producers of The Ring and The Grudge” at the top shows that they’re looking to follow that formula and not actually differentiate the film in the marketplace, hoping people will continue in their habit of seeing movies in this sub-genre instead of trying to attract new people or give existing fans a new call to action.
