Semi-Pro “Love Me Sexy” video

semipro-redband-poster.jpgNo, you’re not actually dreaming. This really is Will Ferrell singing “Love Me Sexy” (and all its attendant variations) in a new music video that’s been released to promote . It’s funny, completely inappropriate and disturbing on at least five levels that I can count, at least before my mind shuts down and I go fetal purely for self-preservation.

I know some people are thinking Ferrell’s “Clueless, cocky (fill in the vocation)” character is getting old, but he keeps coming up with new ways to approach it and I think it still works. Would I like to see him branch out? Sure. But he consistently brings the funny, largely because he’s so obviously committed to seeing the joke out to its end point and is so completely invested in the character he’s playing that it continues to work.

You should also check out the examples of some of the ad formats that New Media Maze is showing off. The “breakout” one is alright even if it is just kind of a glorified overlay. And while you could also just all the “communicative” one a glorified banner, I think it works better. That’s largely because it extends into another aspect of the campaign something from a previous component, the trailer.
