Get Smart international trailer

Some people who have mentioned this international trailer for Get Smart are saying it’s really bad, maybe even the worst of the year. But I, for one, like it. In fact I like it a lot. Yeah, Steve Carell might be playing yet another version of the same character he’s played elsewhere, but he’s really good at it. And while I encourage him to stretch those boundaries, I wouldn’t want him to completely abandon these roles.

But back to the trailer. We’re shown the basic setup, that Maxwell Smart is being called into action because all other agents are missing. Wackiness ensues as he and his new partner Agent 99 (played by Anne Hathaway) try to track them down. It works not because I wasn’t expecting much, but because it delivered exactly what I was expecting. As long as it does that for a big enough audience it should find some amount of success.
