Machete poster
No sooner do I mention Grindhouse as it relates to the poster for Hell Ride then I now present to you the poster for Machete. Here’s how this works out.
One of the “fake” trailers that played between the Grindhouse double-feature was created by director Robert Rodriguez for Machete, starring Danny Treo. But there wasn’t actually a movie that was being made until Rodriguez decided, apparently, he liked the idea enough to go ahead and expand it into a feature.
The poster is pretty cool. It extends the conceit of Grindhouse by having fold-lines designed in, showing how the one-sheet would have been stored by the cheap theaters that would have played a movie like this. I have to admit it adds something to the poster, giving it a nice worn feel that sets the tone nicely.
