Watching the Detectives trailer

This trailer for Watching the Detectives is very funny and completely charming, even if the conceit of the movie seems like an episode of “Friends” writ large.

Cillian Murphy stars as a man obsessed with classic films and the characters that inhabit them. In comes Lucy Liu as a free spirit type of woman who tries to teach him how to actually have a bit of fun in the outside world and explore things he’s never done before.

The trailer actually works really well, with Liu showing a loose, natural vibe that she doesn’t usually get to. And Murphy is solid as someone who doesn’t know what to do with the fact that he’s actually having fun outside his comfort zone. [via Spout]
