Warner Bros. has signed a major deal with National CineMedia, creators of pre-movie entertainment and ad blocks, that will give the studio in increased and special level of prominence in those blocks, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Under the terms of the deal, Warner Bros. will create exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at the studio’s slate of summer films, including The Dark Knight, Speed Racer and others, for FirstLook, the name of the pre-show product. The studio will also be able to take advantage of National CineMedia’s Lobby Entertainment Network, which places high-definition video screens and more within theater lobbies.
National CineMedia’s Digital Content Network currently reaches about 13,500 screens spanning a handful of theater chains.
The one thing I hope happens is that NCM start putting those FirstLook features online not only on their corporate site, which they are, but also on YouTube or some other video-sharing site where people can spread them organically.
