New Funny Games poster

funnygamesposter.jpgThis new poster for Funny Games is alright, and certainly matches the graphicness portrayed in the movie’s two trailers to date. But it seems to sell the movie not as a black comedy like those trailers but more as a sort of intellectual descendant to American Psycho with the bloody golf club.

There’s also nothing on the one-sheet about the main story of the film, that the guy wielding the bloody driver is holding a family hostage for the demented pleasure of him and a cohort. A poster has to convey at least a little bit of something about the movie’s plot but this one has almost no story to tell.

It’s graphically striking but fails even on the level of eliciting some level of excitement from the audience. That’s especially a short-fall considering there’s no web address for people to go to if they want to find out what the movie’s about.
