The Ruins poster

The Ruins poster

ruinsposter.jpgI wasn’t too hot on the trailer but I do really like this poster for the “young people get caught in something ancient and cursed” movie The Ruins. It’s not an obvious image that tries to frighten the audience right away. Instead it just presents the setting of the movie with the ominous title at the top.

I think it’s also the weathered, rough look that the poster has that makes me like it. It doesn’t try to out-shine every other one-sheet that it’s going to be sharing wall space with and competing for attention against. Instead it’s there, like a photo that’s been carried around in someone’s wallet for too long. There are no credits, n explanation, it’s just there. Very nice effort that makes me wonder if the trailer was selling the movie accurately.

[Update: Apparently the poster is a fan-made creation. Unlike Alex, though, I think this poster works really well. Whoever designed it should get a job.]
