Leatherheads trailer

Universal has released the first trailer for Leatherheads, the period comedy starring George Clooney, Renee Zellweger and John Krasinski. Clooney and Krasinski play two guys who pair up to try and make early football a legitimate sport. But while they collaborate on the field they’re also competing for the affections of Zellweger’s sports reporter character.

The trailer is fast-paced and funny. Krasinski looks like he’s having fun and Clooney is, well, Clooney. He’s a funny guy and that’s in full effect here. Zellweger does what she can. The spot shows the movie is a romantic comedy that actually might be both funny and romantic at a time when a good amount of such movies fail to be either. The romance is there in the trailer to make the movie palatable to the women in the audience, who need to be on board with going to the theater with their significant others.
