Taken poster and trailer

taken1_large.jpgI’ve got to agree with Alan, this poster for the Liam Neeson-starring thriller Taken works very hard to make him look like Daniel Craig did on the posters for Casino Royale. Based on the trailer, which is embedded below, the movie has Neeson playing a father whose daughter has been abducted while she was traveling with a friend. Neeson, though, vows to get her back and makes it clear to the kidnappers that he has some special skills he will employ to this end.

The trailer works very well, positioning Neeson in the role of reluctantly being drawn back into the life of violence he apparently left behind when he started a family. Yeah, that’s been done, but Neeson is a good enough actor to pull it off. The spot sets up the conflict of the movie nicely and shows us all the relationships that power the plot through.

The one thing I will give the poster designers credit for is carrying over the vaguely slate-gray look of the trailer onto the one-sheet.  [via Burbanked via OwF]
