Captivity DVD highlights the… director?
Seems Lionsgate isn’t eager to relive the pounding they took for Captivity’s theatrical release as the movie nears its DVD debut.
Alan brings to our attention the tower ad he’s seen online for the DVD, an ad that highlights the resume of director Roland Jaffe. Nowhere to be found is star Elisha Cuthbert, who was front-and-center in the theatrical push. No, now we’re being asked to buy the movie based on this being yet another entry in the career of the man who directed The Killing Fields.
I have to admit it’s an odd play. It’s such a subdued ad people may not even realize what it’s for, rendering it more or less useless. There were images that the theatrical campaign used that would have been fine to repurpose for the DVD push. At the very least they could have used the DVD cover art, which actually (as you can see) is a variation on one of the movie’s posters.
Just a very weird decision.
