When Jerry Seinfeld appears on tonight’s season premiere of “30 Rock” there will be ample mention of his upcoming Bee Movie, according to Reuters.
According to everyone involved the mentions of the movie – which apparently are numerous – were organic and not part of a paid promotional deal. Instead they were the product of people just thinking the over-the-top mentioning of the movie would be kind of funny.
All of this is in addition to the fact that NBC partnered with Seinfeld for 20 minisodes that will air on the network to promote Bee Movie. What those minisodes (think webisodes but not, you know, on the web) will look like exactly isn’t clear. Even so, the deal, combined with the “30 Rock” plugs obviously resulted from Seinfeld seeing the promotional power of coming back to the network that made him famous and NBC was completely willing to comply.
