Good Luck Chuck promotional package

Last week while I was out I got a promotional package from Lionsgate for Good Luck Chuck. Of course I took pictures. The package contained a replica of the penguin-sporting panties Jessica Alba wears in the movie and which make a brief (LOL) appearance in the trailer for the movie. You can see the whole [...]

Darjeeling Limited display at Louis Vuitton

Fox Searchlight got a Louis Vuitton store in New York City to decorate one of its windows with a poster for The Darjeeling Limited as well as luggage like that which appears in the movie. I think it’s really cool that Searchlight so consistently thinks offline like this. The studio has done similar promotions with [...]

Once recommendation

Blogging superstart Heather Armstrong just recommended the Irish romance Once. Heather’s blog is not only an absolute hoot (as well as sometimes being heartbreaking) to read but Dooce is ranked 62nd on Technorati. For some reason I felt that warranted blogging, since she rarely talks about movies. That, to my mind, give her recommendation almost [...]

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem poster

I’m actually alright with the image on this poster for Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. It works and it sells the movie pretty effectively. But the “This Christmas there will be no peace on Earth” tagline just makes me want to hurt someone. [via JoBlo]

Fred Claus poster

This new poster for Fred Claus is better than the teaser simply because the perspective of the artwork isn’t completely screwed up. It’s light and fun and the movie isn’t likely to be anything too deep or soul-searching but that’s completely alright. It’s a good poster that plays to the strength of Vince Vaughn in [...]

One Missed Call poster

The latest American adaptation of a Japanese horror flick involving something innocent being turned into something mysterious, One Missed Call now has a poster.

Cheerleader confessions for The Comebacks

Steve Hall (shocker!) finds this series of videos from a cheerleader that are meant to promote The Comebacks. I’ll let them speak for themselves.

Pathology trailer

MGM has released the first trailer for Pathology and it appeared as a sponsored video on YouTube’s front page today. It’s not all that great, but may find its audience. The movie is about a group of young doctors working in the coroner’s office, one of whom goes off his nut and starts killing members [...]

The Counterfeiters trailer

This is a very well put-together trailer for The Counterfeiter, the story of a World War II-era counterfeiting expert who’s imprisoned by the Nazis and forced to practice his arts to fund the continuing war effort. It spells out the movie’s plot quite nicely and does a good job of setting up the drama that [...]

Credentials? We don’t need no…oh forget it

Scott has an interesting post up based on an IFP panel he attended that has him riffing on the idea of online press rooms and how frustratingly closed they are. His basic point is one that I’ve made often: Why are studios making it so hard to get their marketing content? If I’m willing and [...]

Hulk, Iron Man licensing images

SuperHeroHype has glimpses at the images Marvel seems to have begun using on licensed merchandise for both The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man. Neither of them are all that exciting, and certainly don’t stand up as stand-alone pieces of marketing art. The Hulk’s is especially week, showing a character that seems to be not so [...]

Weirdsville trailer

This trailer for Weirdsville is just awful. The plot is inscrutable, the acting just awful and the look and feel of it actively turned me off of seeing the film. It’s supposed to present a movie that’s filled with unique characters and trippy images but in reality it just comes off looking like they didn’t [...]

So I’ve decided to actually write a book…

…cause I obviously don’t have enough to do on a regular basis.
A little while ago I took what was, in reality, a half-hearted stab at creating a book. I didn’t do anything original, just took the first 150 MMM columns that I had written, tried to standardize the look and feel, and published what I [...]
