There Will Be Blood poster
Well you can certainly say this about the poster for Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood: It certainly doesn’t lack for audacity.

As noted by Wells, the use of imagery obviously meant to look like an old Bible tips that the movie will be focusing on issues of morality and other such topics. It’s really quite awesome, though, and really strikes a chord.
That being said, I can certainly see some of the more irrational fundamentalist groups out there having a problem with this. It’s important for these people to remember that a lot of bad things have been done in the name of Christianity and this movie is going to deal with a few of those, even if they are fictionalized. I really think the most important thing to consider is this: what’s the over/under on how much scenery Daniel Day Lewis will chew up and spit out, if you base your assumptions solely on his “Gangs of New York” outing?
