Evan Almighty’s ecoimagination
While watching TV the other night I saw one of GE’s “Ecomagination” spots about how the company was making strides in environmentally friendly technology. I didn’t pay much attention to it but then saw it extended with a pitch for Universal’s Evan Almighty. After the standard spot ended the screen went briefly black only to come back up with a few shots from the Steve Carell flick and a voice-over about how if we wanted to see an animal-friendly movie we should check out Evan Almighty.
This makes sense in terms of the overall Evan campaign. One of the biggest parts of the push so far has been the GetOnBoard site which teaches about environmental responsibility and encourages the planting of both real and virtual trees. So partnering with GE and their green campaign is a good fit. But in terms of execution this was a bit clunky on GE’s part. There could have been either a better transition between the spot and the obvious add-on or, ideally, there could have been a new spot created.
Like I said, good idea but the execution left something to be desired.
