Universal wants you to Get on Board the carbon-neutral bandwagon
Universal has launched a spinoff site related to their upcoming Evan Almighty that highlights environmental awareness and calls on people to get involved in reducing emissions and other harmful activities. The site, Get on Board, is wonderfully put together (not surprising since it’s a Real Pie Media production) and manages to promote the movie AND [...]
Fantastic Four 2 on MySpace
Fox has created a MySpace page for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Yay?
I’m sorry but I remain unconvinced as to the power of MySpace pages when all it does is recreate the official site, but with the ability to “friend” the page. I know there was a recent study - commissioned by MySpace - [...]

Nice. The way the birds exploding out of the figure in the middle and the way he separates the night and day all work very well. It’s a solid design, with the brightness of each side balanced so one side doesn’t draw your eye more than the other. This sort of [...]

There’s so much to like about this poster for Once. Whether it’s the simple dress of the characters or the way they’re looking at each other in a familiar way or the way they walk out onto the guitar neck. That’s the part that didn’t quite hit me at first but [...]
Child advocacy group targes Shrek’s promotional partners.
The Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood has targeted Dreamworks’ Shrek the Third as having too many unhealthy promotional partners, reports the AP.
The group seems to see some sort of disconnect between the green ogre being promoted on Snickers bars and also being part of an anti-childhood obesity campaign from the Department of Health and Human [...]
Analysts: Studios should avoid day & date VOD/DVD release
A pair of Pali Research analysts have warned studios away from making movies available on DVD and for video-on-demand, reports PaidContent.
Even though the percentage of the purchase price studios get back from VOD is higher, doing so will negatively impact DVD rentals and sales. That’s partly because people typically buy one VOD movie at a [...]

Pepsi launches “Transform Your Summer” promotion
Pepsi and Yahoo has launched a promotional tie-in program for this summer’s Transformers feature flick from Dreamworks/Paramount. Titled “Transform Your Summer” the contest looks like it’s based on bottles of Mountain Dew, likely with some sort of code to enter to win daily prizes.
This is at least the second time Pepsi and Yahoo have co-sponsored [...]
Lord of the Rings MMOG
Midway Games is releasing a massively multiplayer online game based on The Lord of the Rings today.
In related news, traffic at comics shops and used record stores hit an all time low…
Fantastic Four 2 international posters
Marvel.com has a gallery of ten international characters posters for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. It’s really only five images (the team + Silver Surfer) but each character gets a full one-sheet and a cropped smaller poster. They’re remarkably similar in layout and design to the character posters from the first film and [...]
Disney faces uphill battle for non-sequel Ratatouille
Disney - and every other studio out there - faces tremendous challenges when it tries to market a movie that is truly original. That means it’s not a sequel, not a relaunch and not an adaptation from another medium. Case in point their upcoming Pixar film Ratatouille. Without the built-in name recognition that so many [...]
