Quick Takes 4/26/07
Argh.
- Hey, guess what? There are a ton of movies coming out this summer and many of them are sequels or franchise extensions in some manner.
- But with all those big name flicks taking up theater space (and advertising time) it’s important to remember the smaller niche films are every bit (in some cases more) worth your time.
- Alex labels The Simpsons as this summer’s big question mark, largely because the series is well past its prime in terms of both cultural zeitgeist and (in some cases) creative output.
- It’s interesting to me that studios seem to put more thought into the niche-targeting of their direct-to-DVD releases than they do their theatrical films.
- You can download some of the films from the Tribeca Film Festival for free on Jaman.
- Disney is dropping Buena Vista from its stable in order to refocus on the Disney brand.
- PaidContent recaps a panel discussion of “Hollywood and Social Media.” Interesting stuff.
