Evan Almighty poster
Peter has a look at the new poster for Evan Almighty, from Universal Studios and starring Steve Carell. It’s not a bad poster but it’s too…what’s the word I’m looking for…slick. It is so bright and so vibrant in its coloring that it shows the movie to be a glossy studio production that likely won’t [...]
No Reservations
Alan pretty much kills the marketing team that put together the No Reservations poster. Then, just because it’s fun and he’s there, he burns down their house, poops on the ashes, swallows one guys favorite fish whole and leaves those still clinging to life naked and hungry on the a remote snowy hill. I’m going [...]
Spider-Man 3 in NYC
Tom has posted a picture he grabbed of in New York of a poster for Spider-Man 3.
Right now I’m reading Marketing to Moviegoers (link goes to Amazon, where you can buy the book and support MMM) by Robert Marich. In it, when discussing the rules actors and other talent sometime put on marketing, he says [...]
The Waitress on Fox Searchlight’s blog
The Fox Searchlight blog has a little quiz about pies up in relation to its upcoming film Waitress, starring Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion.
This might not be that consequential but there is a larger point that I’d like to make that springboards nicely off of this. Almost no one else - at least not that [...]
Star Wars now just blatantly using the USPS for the sex
In addition to the R2-D2 mailboxes, the USPS has created a new design for their website that actively promotes the partnership between the two, specifically the announcement of a bunch of Star Wars-themed stamps. James has not one but two screenshots of the redesigned site to show just how much the USPS…well, let’s not go [...]
The Hoax’s “Little White Lies” videos
Check out this too funny series of videos promoting the new Miramax film The Hoax, starring Richard Gere as a man who lies about having done an interview with Howard Hughes and winds up trying to publish a book about it.
The videos are designed to look like PSA type commercials come from The People For [...]
Transformers posters
If you haven’t already checked them out elsewhere, Newsrama has a good pic of the new Transformers posters released yesterday. While I do like the design and look of Optimus Prime I have to say I’m tremendously disappointed in Megatron. This profile view of him on the one-sheet makes it look like his picture was [...]
War, Inc trailer
Yeah, I agree with John. On paper - and based on the trailer - War, Inc seems like a sequel to Grosse Point Blank. It’s not, but that doesn’t make the trailer any less enticing. This one could be really good, but the comedy seems a tad broad to be effective as satire.
Transformers on MySpace
Dreamworks/Paramount have created a MySpace page for Transformers. Even more so than other movie MySpace pages, this is a clunky effort that seems determined to crash my computer. It does feature the Optimus Prime/Megatron stare-down posters that were also released today, though, which are kind of cool.
Quick Takes: 3/27/07
The Newsarama blog has a look at a Hasbro commercial promoting the appearance of their new Spider-Man licensed toys hitting store shelves.
Defamer catches a Rocky Balboa DVD ad on the side of a huge garbage haul. Sometimes the jokes just write themselves, don’t they?

R2-D2 mailbox pics
While visiting New Jersey and tooling around with The Biro, we actually passed one of the R2-D2 mailboxes and managed to snap a bunch of pics. Surf over to Tom’s Flickr feed for more. Mack actually was talking about this today as well.
NBC promotes Evan Almighty trailer
No sooner do I mention the press release about it than I see a commercial on NBC promoting a marathon of “The Office” and the debut in that marathon of the Evan Almighty trailer. They gave it almost as much screen time as the show. Gotta love corporate synergy.
Wind Chill trailer
Following shortly after the release of the movie’s poster, the thriller Wind Chill now has a trailer. It’s pretty boring, with all the cliches you’d expect from a genre film like this. Meh.

28 Weeks Later trailer
The 28 Weeks Later trailer that debuted last weekend in front of The Hills Have Eyes 2 has hit the net. I have to admit it worked for me better than most zombie/horror trailers do, largely I think because it starts off with an actual story and doesn’t just try to latch on to the [...]
Evan Almight trailer during 3/29 “The Office”
Universal will debut the newest trailer for the Steve Carell comedy Evan Almighty during a March 29th marathon of the Steve Carell-starring comedy “The Office” on NBC. Of course this makes as much sense as when Fox Searchlight advertised Little Miss Sunshine, featuring Carell, on the NBC website for “The Office” a while back. The [...]
