Martian Child trailer
In Martian Child, John Cusack plays a science fiction writer who comes across a young boy without parents who lives in a cardboard box and you can check out the movie’s trailer here. He does so because he believes he’s from Mars. Cusack is drawn to the child and eventually petitions to become his guardian, a road filled with stumbling blocks - blocks which will no doubt drive much of the plot. Over the course of the movie they each give the other something, as happens in all movies like this.
It’s nice to see Cusack in a movie that doesn’t naturally fit into one of his archetypes. In the trailer he seems to be acting and not coasting like he’s done through a number of his recent films. The trailer is nicely paced and spells the movie out very well, making it enormously attractive to someone looking for a flick just off the beaten path.
Amanda Peet plays Cusack’s love interest, Joan Cusack plays his friend or possibly sister and Amazon plays Product Placement, a role facilitated by its logo being prominently displayed on the box the boy lives in.
