School For Scoundrels online game to promote DVD release

The Weinstein Co. has created a fun little online game to promote the DVD of School For Scoundrels. I only played two levels but you basically fire paintballs or throw spitballs at losers who pop up from behind trees or desks. I guess these are supposed to be the kind of guys you compete against [...]

Two Norbit notes

Two small bits about the upcoming Eddie Murphy flick Norbit, which has Murphy playing the geeky lead, his extremely overweight wife and a bunch of other characters as well.
First off, the Trigger agency has created an e-card site for you to create a card that you can send to someone. Not only can you send [...]

Rush Hour 3 teaser trailer

There’s a teaser trailer that’s hit YouTube for Rush Hour 3. This one has Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan hitting France, so you can rest assured that there will be much comedy derived from the outrageous accents of those cheese-eating surrender monkeys.
Seriously, the trailer looks awful. The first two-thirds of the running time is a [...]

Weinstein Co. sponsors FX show

The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films will act as the sole sponsor for the debut of the FX network’s new show” The Riches.” The limited commercial breaks - just three in the hour show - will be used to promote Weinstein’s upcoming Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez double feature of gore Grindhouse. The show will carry just [...]

Quick Takes: 1/26/07

Clyde gives his thoughts on Universal’s Second Life Smokin’ Aces Assassins Game.
Blood Diamond director Ed Zwick is upset over a campaign by the U.S. diamond industry that wants to encourage stars to wear diamonds to award shows by offering to donate money to African charities for every star who does so.
Over at AdJab I mention [...]

New Ghost Rider TV spots

SuperHeroHype has the links to a third and fourth TV spot for Ghost Rider. Both spots are pretty good and are obviously meant to make the movie as appealing as possible to as big an audience as possible. While they each feature slightly different footage, there are common threads. Each explains what the Ghost Rider [...]

Thursday Funnies

Just because sometimes you need to laugh so hard the scotch you’ve been drinking by the gallon comes spurting out your nose.

This is funny because it’s at least partially true.
You have one little fire (that destroys a huge chunk of the city) and everybody keeps bringing it up.
My buddy Rick Klau is going to begin [...]

300 Poster

While on the one hand I really like the way the 300 marketing team was able to continue the visceral nature of the movie in this new poster, I do have a problem with it. I can’t look at it without thinking of that Far Side cartoon where all the lemmings are diving off the [...]

New Smokin’ Aces poster and contest

I love this new Smokin’ Aces poster that’s just been released. It brings star Jeremy Piven front and center and surrounds him with the rest of the cast in a design that not only evokes a sort of 70’s exploitation flick but also forms its own ace shape. The 70’s feel to the one-sheet is [...]

Blood & Chocolate trailer featured on YouTube

Surfed over to YouTube this morning and found that the second trailer for Blood & Chocolate was their sponsored video of the day.

Quick Takes: 1/23/07

Suzuki is working on a car whose roof flips up to turn into a 40-inch movie screen. The projection system can also be used to display the movie on a building wall or other flat surface. I’m betting the MPAA will have a collective stroke over this since it sounds too good from a consumer [...]

Universal uses iVillage for Because I Said So promotion

Universal is using iVillage (an NBC/Universal owned property) to promote its upcoming movie Because I Said So, starring Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore. On the iVillage site women are encouraged to share bits of mother/daughter advice since the relationship between a mother and her daughter is the centerpiece of the film. The solicitation for submissions [...]

Alan doesn’t like the Hannibal Rising trailer…

…and goes shot by shot to point out what the problem is and how overtly the creators of the trailer are trying to dredge up our memories of the earlier entries in the franchise to sell us this one. A great analysis of this pretty bad trailer.

Smokin’ Aces ads

James has got a couple of cool Smokin’ Aces online ads, one vertical and one horizontal banner. Both eventually resolve into a variation on the movie’s poster, with a collage of the characters from the film.

Spider-Man 3 official website re-launch

Sony has launched the fully stocked official website for Spider-Man 3. It’s really cool, with all the trailers, photos and everything else you’d expect. Some stuff is still coming soon, such as Games, but overall it’s a nice site, courtesy of Trigger. There’s even an RSS widget you can download that has a countdown clock [...]
