Dreamworks gives Shrek a healthy makeover
As promotional efforts for Shrek the Third ramp up, Dreamworks is looking to deflect some of the criticism their ogre came under during his last film’s promotional campaign. That push had the character gracing boxes of sugary cereal and other high-calorie treats.
This time around, according to AdAge, Shrek will be part of the Small Step obesity-prevention campaign from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Ad Council. The shift in how the character is out there among the people comes as food marketers, and the entertainment companies that license characters to them or sell them advertising time, come under increased scrutiny for how they contribute to childhood obesity.
