King of California posters

What kind of poster do you create when one of your main characters is Michael Douglas with a long beard, wild hair and crazy eyes? One that shows just that. His visage graces one of the two just-released posters for King of California, the new film from Alexander Payne (Sideways). Co-star Evan Rachel Wood, who plays Douglas’ daughter, also gets her own character poster, which has her looking dour and serious.

The Douglas poster especially reminds me of the poster for another of Payne’s films, About Schmidt. That one had a wild and scruffy looking Jack Nicholson on it and I’d be willing to bet that’s not a coincidence.
