Engagement depends on your age
Anne Thompson is recounting the experience her daughter had at a showing of X-Men 3. Of specific interest is this, about the Superman Returns trailer. The level of interest in this movie seems to be dependent on the age of the viewer and I think is an interesting testament to just how hard [...]
Spider-Man 3 teaser with Superman?
It had previously been reported that the first Spider-Man 3 trailer would come out in front of Talladega Nights, the new Will Ferrell comedy. SuperHeroHype, though, is passing on word that director Sam Raimi himself mentioned it would be attached to Superman Returns.
Take that with a grain of salt, since directors don’t always [...]
Movie marketers looking for unconventional partners
The idea that Hollywood movie studios are going so deep into niches to look for partners to help promote their movies is the angle used for this Washington Post article. It cites the number and uniqueness of promotional partners for Cars and other big releases. But when you get down to it there’s [...]

What does Superman’s early debut signal?
Jeffrey Wells is speculating that the decision to open Superman Returns two days earlier than previously expected is a panic move by the marketing team on the film. He thinks Warner Bros. is getting the movie out earlier over the 4th of July weekend to rack up as much box-office as possible before Pirates [...]

Clerks 2 official website
It’s been up and running for a while, but the official website for Kevin Smith’s Clerks 2 has been futzed with a bit. There’s actually not a whole lot there that’s new, it’s just been arranged a little differently. The character bios just point to the MySpace profiles for the characters and the [...]

Pulse trailer #2
The Weinstein Co. has released a new trailer for the Kristen Bell-starring thiller Pulse. It’s about as effective as the first one, meaning it gets the job done of setting up the plot (dead people trying to come back through our electronic devices) and delivering the appropriate number of jumps and chills.

More on movies and graphic novels
The MacGuffin Book Store has posted part two in their look at graphic novels and the movies they inspire. It seems that DC makes titles that tie into current movies available for order on consignment, meaning the retailer has far less risk of inventory that won’t sell since they can simply return it to [...]
Superman Returns site upgraded and new posters
Warner Bros. has ditched the static site it previously had up and turned on the Flash for their Superman Returns official website. It has a lot of the same features as it did before and there’s still a lot that’s labeled as “Coming Soon” but there is some good content there. Tons of [...]
Pimp my blog
Anybody wanna do a lot of work for little but name recognition on a movie marketing blog?
I’m looking for someone to trick-out M3, pretty much from the ground up. Things I’m looking for:
I’d like to keep the stuff in the nav-bar intact but don’t care where it winds up.
I’d like to see the logo [...]
Where’s the promotional swag?
I spend a lot of time here on M3 talking about online movie marketing efforts. That’s where the majority of new developments are coming from and being focused on. The internet gives a voice to everyone and allows marketers to increase efficiency by, as Mack says, joining the community.
But there is an offline [...]
Apocalypto poster
A haunting new poster for Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto has been released. It’s image of a sole warrior leaning wearily against the misty Mayan temple is quite breathtaking.
