Corpse Bride micro-sites
Warner Bros. loves the concept of these viral micro-sites. They did some for Everything Is Illuminated and there were a number for specific characters for Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. JoBlo has the details and the URLs.
Mini MMM: Everything Is Illuminated
Elijah Wood and the rest of the Lord of the Rings cast will forever live with the shadow of that trilogy. Every film review, every feature story, every taudry headline of them being caught with a dwarf and a syphillis-ridden hooker at a cock fight will mention that they were once hobbits.
Wood seems to be [...]
More poster commentary
A couple weeks ago I passed on, embedded in my own thoughts, AdFreak’s commentary on the sad state of movie posters. Well now that fall is arriving and bringing with it better movies, they’ve now found a couple they like. Specifically they point to the one-sheets for Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the [...]
Fixing trailers
Before I weigh in on the subject I just wanted to point out what James Rocchi, blogger for Netflix, has to say about making trailers better. He has some good and some non-good points but it’s worth a read.
(Hat tip to Hacking Netflix)
A Scanner Darkly posters
There’s a whole series of actor-centric one-sheets for A Scanner Darkly up at JoBlo. I’ve heard this film’s been delayed which explains the vague “Coming Soon” on them. I loved the look of the trailer and these posters fit right in with that. Nice stuff.
Just Friends poster
In case you’ve ever wondered what Ryan Reynolds looks like in a fat suit, the answer can be found in the form of this poster for Just Friends. It’s a romantic comedy with him and Amy Smart.
Derailed poster
Check out this very cool poster for the upcoming Clive Owen/Jennifer Aniston flick Derailed. As beautiful as I think Aniston is I’m glad they didn’t make this just a floating heads one-sheet of her and Owen. Instead they opted for a very “capture the moment” type of feel by showing them in motion and [...]
Syriana poster
This is a great poster for the upcoming George Clooney/Matt Damon starring political thriller Syriana. Very washed-out and very attractive from a design standpoint.
Goblet of Fire trailer coming soon
Warner Bros. will reporedly debut the trailer for Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire in front of Tim Burton’s The Corpse Bride.
Movie Marketing Madness: Lord of War
I love the campaign for Lord of War so much I just may marry it.
Mini MMM: Just Like Heaven
I don’t really like to throw around the word “hate,” especially regarding another human being. It’s an ugly word and has all kinds of nasty meanings.
That being said, I hate Reese Witherspoon. She seems to want to model her career after Meg Ryan but at least Ryan seemed like she had some brains behind the [...]
Trailer round-up: Part 1
Because I’ve been very busy lately I haven’t been keeping up with recent trailers. So here’s a quick glance at some of the ones I’ve just watched.
The Proposition - An Australian western with Guy Pierce, Ray Winston and a host of others. Looks alright but I’m wondering if anyone other than Clint Eastwood [...]
Greatest Game official site
I really like the extension of the golf theme on Disney’s official site for The Greatest Game Ever Played. Still, after The Legend of Bagger Vance it will take a whole lot to convince me a golf movie can be interesting. On the other hand there was Tin Cup. Oh well. [...]
Two For The Money poster
JoBlo states this isn’t the final poster for the Al Pacino/Matthew McConaughey flick Two For The Money, and that’s a good thing. Heads are way two big and, quite frankly it tells us nothing about the movie other than who’s in it. No tagline, no nothing. A few stills in the band [...]
Eragon official site
20th Century Fox has launched the official site for their upcoming sci-fi/fantasy flick Eragon. There’s not much there right now but what I like most about it is that there’s a “Lexicon”, or dictionary of the terms specific to this universe. That’s a great addition and let’s those of us not familiar with [...]
