While the trailer seems perfectly fine in and of itself here are few questions raised in my mind:
1. Will Ron Howard be able to resist his urge to tug at every available heartstring until there is nothing left?
2. Do Renee Zellweger’s eyes actually open anymore or are we doomed to watching her squint her way through the rest of her career?
3. Shouldn’t all tough, streetwise but sensitive priests who know the names and full family history’s of his parishoners be played by Karl Malden until he retires or passes away?
Other than that it’s a fine trailer. Jeff Wells has this to say, and I agree:
…the trailer makes it clear that the story of Depression-era fighter Jim Braddock is basically another 1930s Seabiscuit thing — a 1930s athlete becoming an object of populist worship because he’s a come-from-behind underdog type.
